Brighton Chimene and Felix Tangawarima set for Cairo training ahead of AFCON 2025
As the countdown to AFCON 2025 in Morocco gathers momentum, CAF has unveiled the list of referees and officials selected for the AFCON Preparation Course, running from 8–13 November 2025 in Cairo, Egypt.
Among them are two proud Zimbabweans namely Brighton Chimene and Felix Tangawarima.
Brighton Chimene, chosen as one of Africa’s Video Match Officials (VMOs), joins the continent’s top VAR specialists preparing to ensure technological precision and fairness at Africa’s biggest football stage.

Felix Tangawarima, Zimbabwe’s legendary referee and CAF Instructor, will mentor the new generation of match officials, continuing his legacy as one of Africa’s most respected technical leaders in refereeing.
Their inclusion highlights Zimbabwe’s growing presence and credibility in the officiating ranks across Africa. Under ZIFA President Nqobile Magwizi, the nation’s refereeing structures continue to produce excellence that commands continental respect.
From the pitch to the VAR room, Zimbabwe’s flag flies high.
