Zimbabwean match commissioners are continuing to make their mark on the continental stage, with a delegation currently in Cairo for the CAF Commissioners Workshop.

The group comprises Norman Matemera, Stellar Ruvinga, Tendayi Bwanya and Faith Mloyi, who is also the Chairperson of the ZIFA Referees Committee. Their participation reflects Zimbabwe’s growing presence and contribution to football administration and match organisation at the highest level in Africa.

The CAF Commissioners Workshop brings together match officials from across the continent to exchange knowledge, enhance operational standards, and align with evolving trends in match coordination and governance. The programme focuses on key areas such as match-day management, integrity, regulatory compliance, and effective coordination among stakeholders.

For Zimbabwe, the workshop represents another important step in the ongoing professionalisation of football structures, particularly within refereeing and match officiating. It also reinforces ZIFA’s commitment to capacity building and continuous development of its human resources in line with international best practice.

Speaking from Cairo, Mloyi highlighted the importance of such engagements in strengthening Zimbabwe’s footprint in African football. “Workshops of this nature are critical in sharpening our competencies and ensuring that Zimbabwe continues to contribute effectively to the growth of African football. It is also an opportunity to learn, share experiences and bring back knowledge that will enhance our local structures,” she said.

ZIFA continues to prioritise the development of match officials and administrators, recognising their central role in maintaining the integrity, professionalism and smooth running of the game at all levels.
