The second day of action in the inaugural BancABC Roots Impact Programme concluded on Sunday with another exciting round of provincial fixtures in Harare and Bulawayo, as Zimbabwe’s brightest young footballers continued to showcase their talent.
The opening weekend marked a significant milestone for the programme, with all ten provinces completing two rounds of fixtures in the Under-14 and Under-16 boys’ and girls’ categories. Over the next two months, every province will face each other once in a nationwide competition designed to provide consistent, high-quality football and create a clear pathway for player development.
In Harare, Prince Edward School hosted two sets of fixtures featuring the four Mashonaland provinces. Mashonaland Central continued their impressive start with disciplined performances against Mashonaland East, recording narrow victories in both boys’ divisions while sharing the spoils in the girls’ matches.

Hosts Harare also enjoyed another productive day, with commanding victories in the Under-14 Boys and Under-16 Girls divisions against Mashonaland West. The remaining fixtures ended in goalless draws, underlining the competitive nature of the tournament.
Bulawayo was equally lively as Midlands produced a dominant display against Matabeleland South, winning all four encounters. The province was particularly impressive in the older age groups, recording convincing victories while maintaining clean sheets throughout the day’s action.
Matabeleland North also enjoyed a successful outing, overcoming Matabeleland South in three of the four matches before sharing the points in the final fixture of the day.

Beyond the results, the opening weekend highlighted the depth of young talent emerging from every corner of Zimbabwe. The BancABC Roots Impact Programme continues to provide a structured, merit-based platform where players can develop through regular provincial competition while benefiting from a safe, professionally organised football environment.
With two rounds now completed, attention turns to the next set of fixtures as the provinces continue their quest for honours and, more importantly, the opportunity to earn recognition on Zimbabwe’s national football pathway.
