ZIFA is all set for its Ordinary Congress in Harare on Friday, as the Association prepares to bring together its delegates for one of the most important meetings on the football calendar. The annual Congress serves as the Association’s yearly general meeting, providing an opportunity for the ZIFA Executive Committee and Secretariat to account to delegates on the work carried out during 2025, while also outlining priorities and operational plans for the next phase of the organisation’s journey.
As the supreme gathering of ZIFA’s membership, Congress remains a key platform for reflection, accountability and strategic direction. It allows delegates from across the football family to review progress made over the past year and engage with the broader vision for the continued growth and transformation of the game in Zimbabwe.

This year’s Congress comes at a significant moment for the Association, with ZIFA continuing to pursue reforms, strengthen governance structures and drive football development across all levels of the game. The meeting is expected to look back on milestones achieved in 2025, while also focusing on the path ahead as the Association works to build on that momentum.
ZIFA Acting General Secretary Norman Gwangwadza said all preparations had been put in place for a successful gathering. “We are ready for Congress and looking forward to a productive meeting with our delegates. This is an important moment for the Association to give account of the work done in 2025 and to present the plans that will guide our operations in the coming year,” said Gwangwadza.
He added that the Ordinary Congress was an important part of maintaining transparency and strengthening the relationship between the leadership of the Association and its membership.

Beyond the formal business of the day, the gathering also represents an important moment of unity for Zimbabwean football, bringing together stakeholders under one roof to consider both achievements and challenges, and to collectively shape the future of the game.
The Ordinary Congress is expected to reaffirm ZIFA’s commitment to professionalism, accountability and service to its members, while providing a clear picture of where the Association stands and where it intends to go next.
With preparations now complete, all is set for Harare to host a meeting that will not only review the year gone by, but also help define the direction of Zimbabwean football in the months ahead.
