The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) successfully concluded the CAF B Refresher Course held from 3 to 7 November 2025 at the ZIFA Village in Harare, marking another important step in the ongoing drive to enhance coaching standards across the country.

The course was facilitated by ZIFA Head of Technical, Mr Dominic Niyonzima, who guided participants through a rigorous programme blending theory, practice, and peer learning. Over the five days, coaches engaged in sessions designed to sharpen tactical understanding, modern coaching methods, and leadership on and off the pitch. The refresher course also served as a platform for mentoring and assessment of coach educators Wilson Mutekede, Tafadzwa Mashiri, Sithethelelwe “Kwinji 15” Sibanda, and Dr Joseph Sibindi, who assisted throughout the week as part of their own professional development journey. Their involvement reflects ZIFA’s commitment to building a sustainable pipeline of skilled technical educators to drive the game forward in Zimbabwe.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr Niyonzima commended the participants for their dedication and professionalism. “This course was not just about fulfilling a requirement; it was about continuous growth. Our coaches must keep evolving with the modern game. I am proud of the commitment shown throughout the week,” he said.

The five-day programme combined classroom sessions with practical on-field demonstrations, enabling participants to apply advanced coaching concepts in real time. The engagement fostered a spirit of collaboration and critical thinking, with participants sharing their experiences from across various clubs and provinces. This refresher course is part of that journey, and we are proud of everyone who took part,” he said. He further expressed appreciation to the technical team and CAF for their continued support, noting that consistent investment in technical capacity building will ensure Zimbabwe remains competitive regionally and internationally.

The refresher course follows ZIFA’s ongoing technical development calendar, which includes coach education, referee upskilling, and youth development programmes. By investing in human capital, the Association aims to strengthen the entire football value chain – ensuring that players across the country benefit from well-trained and up-to-date coaches. As the curtain came down on the week-long programme, the atmosphere at the ZIFA Village was one of pride and optimism.
