CAF D Coaching Course Concludes in Harare as ZIFA Continues to Invest in Coach Development

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) today concluded a CAF D Coaching Course at Oriel Boys High School in Harare, marking another important milestone in the Association’s nationwide drive to strengthen coach education and grassroots football development.

Facilitated by CAF Coach Educator Dr Joseph Sibindi, the course equipped participants with the knowledge, practical skills and coaching principles required to develop young players and create positive learning environments within their communities.

The programme forms part of ZIFA’s long-term strategy to increase both the number and quality of qualified coaches across Zimbabwe, recognising that coach education is fundamental to sustainable player development and the overall growth of the game.

A notable feature of the course was the strong participation of women coaches, reflecting ZIFA’s commitment to increasing female representation in football leadership and technical roles. Among the participants was ZIFA Vice President Loveness Mukura, whose attendance underscored the Association’s belief in leading by example and promoting continuous learning at every level of the game.

Women’s football remains a key pillar of ZIFA’s development agenda, with the Association actively investing in pathways that encourage more women to pursue coaching qualifications and contribute to the technical advancement of the sport. By creating more opportunities for female coaches, ZIFA is helping build a stronger and more inclusive football ecosystem that will benefit players across all age groups.

Speaking after the course, Mukura highlighted the importance of continuous coach education in raising standards across the country.

“Football continues to evolve, and as administrators, coaches and leaders, we must continue learning and growing with the game. It is particularly encouraging to see so many women embracing coach education because they have an important role to play in shaping the future of Zimbabwean football. Every qualified coach strengthens the foundation of our game and creates better opportunities for the next generation of players,” she said.

Dr Sibindi commended the participants for their enthusiasm and commitment throughout the course, encouraging them to apply the knowledge gained within their clubs, schools and communities.

The successful completion of the Harare course adds to a growing list of CAF D Coaching Courses being conducted across Zimbabwe as ZIFA continues to decentralise coach education and make internationally recognised qualifications accessible throughout the country.

Through sustained investment in coach development, the Association is building the technical capacity needed to produce better coaches, nurture more talented players and create a stronger future for Zimbabwean football.
