Road to Glory Continues as Munhumutapa Challenge Cup Preliminary Round Takes Centre Stage

The inaugural ZIFA Munhumutapa Challenge Cup continues this weekend as clubs from across Zimbabwe take to the field in the Preliminary Round, marking another important milestone in a competition created to unite communities, expand opportunities and uncover the country’s next generation of football talent.

Fourteen fixtures will be played across Saturday and Sunday, with all matches kicking off at 3pm at venues spread across the country. From experienced community clubs to ambitious emerging sides, every team will be aiming to secure a place in the next round and keep alive the dream of lifting one of Zimbabwean football’s newest and most exciting trophies.

Saturday’s programme opens with Cheetas FC hosting Chatidhege FC at Chakona Stadium, while Chapungu United face MWOS U19 FC at Ascot Stadium. Lowveld Football Development welcome Black Rock to Mucheke Stadium, with Kwekwe United taking on Derpotivo La Murambinda at Baghdad Stadium.

Elsewhere, Jordan FC meet Destiny Stars at White City Stadium, Bluestones FC host Chilli FC at Gwanzura Stadium, while Gwanda Pirates entertain Harare City at Pelandaba Stadium in another fixture expected to produce an exciting contest.

The action continues on Sunday with Nottingham Estates taking on Norton Big Boys at Dulivhadzimu Stadium, while Rusape City host FC Oden at Vhengere Stadium.

Scottland Juniors face Rosa Pirates at Heart Stadium, Buffaloes FC welcome Blanket Mine to Mutare Showground, Mawabeni host Aqua Stars at Luveve Stadium, Gwayi Valley Cranes take on Marere FC at Chakona Stadium, and Hwange FC conclude the weekend’s programme against Green Fuel FC at Hwange Stadium.

The Munhumutapa Challenge Cup forms part of ZIFA’s broader vision to strengthen football development by creating meaningful competitive opportunities for clubs from every corner of the country.
