Schools Football Showpiece Draw Unveils Thrilling Zimbabwe 2026 Battles

The stage is set, the groups are locked in, and Zimbabwe is ready to welcome the continent. The official draw for the CAF African Schools Football Championship Finals – Zimbabwe 2026 has ignited excitement across the nation, promising a week of pulsating youth football from 6–10 April.

With matches scheduled at Gateway High School and the grand finale pencilled for Ngoni Stadium, the tournament brings Africa’s brightest young talents right to the heart of Zimbabwean football.

The hosts will have their work cut out. In the Girls’ competition, Zimbabwe headline a competitive Group A alongside Morocco, Zambia and DR Congo, while Group B features West African heavyweights Ghana and Guinea, joined by Tanzania and Burkina Faso. The Boys’ draw is equally compelling: Zimbabwe face Uganda, Morocco and DR Congo in Group A, with Tanzania, Zambia, Senegal and Benin battling it out in Group B.

Zimbabwe Football Association President Nqobile Magwizi could hardly contain his excitement following the draw.

“This is a proud moment for Zimbabwean football. Hosting this prestigious schools championship is not only about competition, but about shaping the future of the African game. We are ready to deliver a world-class event and showcase our passion, talent and hospitality,” he said.

The championship is more than just matches. Throughout the week, CAF will roll out capacity-building workshops covering refereeing, coaching, medical services, media and safeguarding – a holistic approach aimed at strengthening the foundations of the game across the continent.

Tournament ambassador Amanda Dlamini believes the event will inspire a new generation.
“This is where dreams begin. These young players are stepping onto a platform that can change their lives. Zimbabwe will provide the perfect backdrop for unforgettable football and lifelong memories,” she noted.

Zimbabwean legend Esrom Nyandoro echoed the sentiment, calling on local fans to rally behind the teams.
“We have a chance to witness the future stars of African football right here at home. The support from the stands will make all the difference, especially for our young Warriors and Mighty Warriors,” he said.
