The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Yvonne Manwa Mapika as the substantive General Secretary following a competitive recruitment and interview process.

Ms. Manwa Mapika returns to the role after previously serving as ZIFA General Secretary from 2023 to 2025. Her appointment follows a rigorous selection process and reflects the Association’s commitment to strengthening its leadership and governance as it continues to implement its strategic agenda for the development of football in Zimbabwe.

As General Secretary, Ms. Manwa Mapika will serve as the Association’s chief executive officer, overseeing the administration and day-to-day operations of ZIFA while driving the implementation of decisions of the Executive Committee. She will also be responsible for ensuring that the Association continues to uphold the governance standards and regulatory requirements of FIFA, CAF, COSAFA and national statutes.

ZIFA President Nqobile Magwizi welcomed the appointment, describing it as an important step in consolidating the Association’s administrative leadership.

“We are pleased to welcome Ms. Manwa Mapika back as General Secretary following a competitive recruitment process. She brings valuable institutional knowledge and experience, and we are confident she will make a meaningful contribution as we continue implementing our vision for a stronger, more accountable and development-focused football administration,” said Magwizi.

Ms. Manwa Mapika expressed her appreciation for the confidence placed in her and said she was looking forward to working with all football stakeholders.

“It is an honour to return and serve Zimbabwean football once again. I am grateful to the Executive Committee for the opportunity and look forward to working closely with our members, partners and stakeholders to strengthen the administration of the game and support the continued growth of football across the country,” she said.

The Association also extends its sincere appreciation to Mr. Norman Gwangwadza, who served as Acting General Secretary during the transition period. ZIFA thanks him for his service and for ensuring continuity in the administration of the Association while the recruitment process was underway.

With the appointment now concluded, ZIFA looks forward to the next phase of its strategic journey as it continues working with clubs, provinces, partners, Government, supporters and the wider football family to build a stronger and more sustainable future for the game in Zimbabwe.
