ZIFA President Nqobile Magwizi was among African football leaders who gathered in Nairobi yesterday for a high-level consultative meeting on the FIFA Forward Programme 4.0, underlining Zimbabwe’s growing influence in shaping the future of the game on the continent. The meeting brought together Presidents of COSAFA member associations, alongside counterparts from the CECAFA region, in a strategic engagement with FIFA representatives led by Gelson Fernández. Also in attendance was Samson Adamu, reflecting the importance of alignment between continental and global football leadership.
FIFA Forward Programme 4.0 represents the next phase of FIFA’s commitment to strengthening member associations through increased and more structured investment. The programme is anchored on key pillars including infrastructure development, capacity building, national team support and enhanced competition structures. It aims to deliver consistent, scaled-up financial backing while ensuring accountability and long-term sustainability across all member associations.

Speaking after the meeting, Magwizi emphasised the importance of such platforms in advancing Zimbabwean football. “This is where the future of our game is shaped. The FIFA Forward Programme is not just about funding, it is about building strong institutions, developing our infrastructure, and creating competitive national teams that can represent Zimbabwe with pride. ZIFA is fully committed to aligning with these principles and ensuring that every investment translates into real progress on the ground,” he said.
ZIFA’s presence at such high-level engagements reflects the Association’s ongoing commitment to international collaboration, institutional development and the long-term growth of Zimbabwean football.
