The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has reinforced its commitment to grassroots football development through a hands-on technical tour of Chitungwiza by Technical Director Mr Dominique Niyonzima, a visit that drew hundreds of enthusiastic fans and young players from across the town.

The Technical Director began his day at the Aquatic Complex, where he interacted with administrators and youth coaches before moving to the Zengeza 3 Community Ground, where FarPost, coached by Mr Masunda, played against Zengeza Busters. From there, he proceeded to Seke 1 High School, where CSPRO, a club owned by former Warriors international Costa Nhamoinesu, faced Ruponeso.

Mr Niyonzima warmly commended Costa’s investment in youth football, describing it as “a powerful symbol of legends giving back to the game that made them.” He emphasised that such initiatives complement ZIFA’s broader effort to build sustainable community football structures.

The TD’s tour continued at Tamuka Primary School in Unit C, Seke, where Seke North battled JB8 Academy, before heading to Seke 12 Primary School to watch Sporting Braga take on Wedge Academy. The day ended with a rousing reception at Chibuku Stadium, where hundreds of supporters gathered to celebrate ZIFA’s renewed presence on the ground.

At every stop, Mr Niyonzima engaged with coaches, referees, and administrators, outlining five key pillars guiding ZIFA’s partnership with grassroots leagues:
1️⃣ Coaches’ Capacitation

2️⃣ Referees’ Training

3️⃣ Safeguarding

4️⃣ Administration Courses

5️⃣ Scouting Courses

“Our mandate is to rebuild football from the ground up,” said Mr Niyonzima. “Chitungwiza has shown us that the future of Zimbabwean football is bright when communities and legends work together.”

This initiative, anchored in ZIFA’s Technical Development Plan, demonstrates the Association’s core business, football development. Under President Nqobile Magwizi’s leadership, ZIFA continues to translate vision into action, empowering local structures and creating real pathways for the stars of tomorrow.
