The Zimbabwe Football Association’s commitment to developing coaching standards across the country continues to gather momentum following the commencement of the CAF C Refresher Course on Monday.
A total of 26 participants have enrolled for the programme, which is designed to update and sharpen the knowledge of coaches as part of the broader effort to strengthen Zimbabwe’s technical development structures ahead of the next CAF B Coaching Course scheduled for August.
Facilitated by ZIFA Technical Director Dominique Niyonzima, the refresher course places strong emphasis on practical application, modern coaching methodologies and the continuous improvement of coaches operating within the domestic football ecosystem.
The programme combines classroom learning with intensive on-field practical sessions, allowing participants to engage directly with real football environments and apply the concepts being taught throughout the course.

Speaking during the course, Niyonzima said the refresher programme was an important part of ZIFA’s long-term vision to raise coaching standards and create a stronger technical foundation for the game in Zimbabwe.
“This refresher course is very important for our coaches because football is constantly evolving and coaches must continue learning and adapting to modern trends and methodologies,” said Niyonzima.
“We are happy with the number of participants who registered because it shows the growing interest and commitment towards coach education in Zimbabwe. This also helps us prepare a strong pool of candidates for the next CAF B Course in August.”
Niyonzima also expressed appreciation to Northern Region Division One side Golden Eagles for supporting the programme by opening their doors for the practical sessions.

“We would also like to sincerely thank Golden Eagles Football Club for accommodating us and allowing us to conduct our practical sessions within their environment. Partnerships like these are very important in the development of football and coach education,” he said.
Coach education remains one of the key pillars of ZIFA’s technical development strategy as the association continues to invest in building the capacity of coaches at all levels of the game.
In recent months, ZIFA has intensified its rollout of CAF coaching programmes across the country, including CAF D and CAF C courses, as part of efforts to ensure more coaches have access to structured football education and internationally recognised qualifications.
The ongoing CAF C Refresher Course is another important step in that process as Zimbabwe continues working towards producing better-equipped coaches capable of positively impacting player development and the overall growth of the game.
